Your personality is your conscious mind and spirit, belief, values, your way of thinking, feelings, emotions, preferences, knowledge, world view, attitude, morale, interpretations, that are reflected on every thing you think, feel, and do to yourself and to the whole environment around you. You are not what you look, that's your outer frame. You are what you behold and posses from the elements listed above.
We understand that as human beings we come to this world with some of those elements that make our personality unique. Once we are born into a cultural environment we start interacting with it subconciously. As we grow we pick what makes up our personalities in its early conciousness. The refinement, crystalising, and development of the person's inner self would then be subject to his interaction with and involvement in the various environments and the different variables that he/she deals with.
A non physical shaping of the persona takes place as those interactions and involvements go on and on. A term referrred to in object design as morphing. Morphing is a process (in reality a going-on process in us) where an object molds into another shape until it is the final full shape. A similar process takes place within the self that makes its way to a clearly defined personna. Look at how your look changes as you are growing. If you combine the pictures in a 3D matrix you are going to see how the pictures 'morph' to reach their final look.
Why we talk about the process of morphing here (this time for the inner self, or inner beauty as is known rather than the outer look) is that what comes into the process , from the surroundings or by direct inclusion, combines with the already existing traits, thoughts, and values to make an 'updated' person with newer knowledge or skills gained, implications of negative experiences, added to or subtracted from thebase form that you have grown up with.
For the above to be practically recognised, the lifestyle you live up brings, imposes, attracts certain things to you making their reflection on you competing with other attractions to gain your attention and accceptance -remember you can't have a cake and eat it. This means for example if you choose a philosophy and accept it you have attracted it to you (or say some of depending on your inner power strength) by the state of your mind before it was accepted. By the same token if you envisioned a liberal life style and started to accept it you attract it to you while opposite lifestlye for example won't find its way to you. You might be making the right choice but chances are you might well be making the wrong choice. How do you know which one deserved your attention and acceptance? Does it conform to with your inner state of well-being? Or does it make you at a disadvantage having to bear great costs at minimal real rewards? For these and other reasons rational persons would want to learn some economics to examine trade offs to see how significant is the opportunity cost (the benefit, here the plus, forgone) for different alternatives.
When you studied economics you learned that it's the science of choice. There you made you analysis in dollar terms on the best use of alternative resources-and those resources are scarce-says Adam Smith in his Wealth of Nations. In fact some resources became scarce not because they was not enough but because of humans destruction and misuse-read Muhammad Baqer Al Sadr in his Our Economy, and Paul Zaine Pilzer's Unlimited Wealth and others.
What we are here for is to keep educating ourselves to make a more informed and better choices not only to enhance our physical environment that we fell closer to or comfortable with but also to expose the self to a constant process of development and perfection. By that the ideal become living beings, the values become imbeded, and the highest joy for an individual becomes the state of being perfected.
Are you talking about some laws here since the process of perfection you described above seems to happen for everyone, so can we draw a law from these same occurrances? You guessed right, and the answer is yes.
The law of attraction, made popular by a movie and a book called 'the 'Secret' is being applied heavily in what in the process of perfection together with some other laws that we may or may not be aware of. The law of attraction is at work whether you enjoy positive attitude to attract positive energy to your space or negative attitude and hence negative energy to your space. It states that 'your though dictates the reality of your life' or put more simply 'you are what you think' and 'thoughts become things'. This law clearifies that the content that lies within yourself is far more significant than the bundle of fabric or material you wear (we say here that we need to be aware of this law whether you agree with or disagree with it).
Those of us who give more of their attention to the outer look (some attention is necessary but not excessive or obsessive) than to their inner state of well-being loose ground and gradually fade away-depending of course on their world perception and the choices their make. Fashion houses, model, international cosmetics and fashion brands, life style magazines and celebrities have been lurring the world with what they have been displaying when they merely equate life style to celebrity looks, fabulous hair design, sleazy fashion, make-ups, decorated house, and food recipes. The next day you start thinking of beauty and your way of life these money makers comes to mind. To be modern you will have be obsessed with, symbolise or idiolise celebrities- that's what they want you to do. The fact is doing so adds little to you if any in real term- you loose great deal of money and time.
Try this out, give less attention to your personality and the state of your inner well-being , or inner peace (emphasis placed here produce far greater positive results for you), than that you place on your physical outer look and you risk fortunes of real happiness.
Meanings of personality
The personality, the persona, the person, the personal, all describe what you refer to as ''me'' or ''you''. The word origin of persona is latin that means mask. To denote this literally, a person is a masked character. No boundaries or expectations can be drawn to identify the self within a person. The thoughts, the feelings, the behaviour make the dimensions of our personalities they however they are elements of and not ''the'' personality itself. These elements interact with each other and with the environment in different ways at different times and they are subject to tremendous change possible anytime during our lives.
What's meant by personality? Marriam-Webster dictionary gives more than one definition for personality. One definition is that it is ''the complex of characteristics that distinguishes an individual or a nation or group ; especially : the totality of an individual's behavioral and emotional characteristics''. This definition tells that single behaviours can't give a total view of personality. In ''Theories of Personality'', R. Ryckman defines personality as ''a dynamic and organized set of characteristics possessed by a person that uniquely influences his or her cognitions, motivations, and behaviors in various situations''. The characteristics, or traits, in both definitions are the key words (not that the words are in plural).
While psychologists have done some work on identifying, typifing, and describing the human personality, scientific approach is short of decisiveness. Scientific findings give different inerpretaions and scientists sometimes hold differing view points on the same matter. The reason why science falls short of answering the truth behind the human personality is due to scientific limitations.
The human personality is abstract and thus can't be measured or tested by statistical methdos. Nevertheless scientific approach provide some answers to make us better understand what we are. Spirtual in nature, the personality experiences some revelations that help us learn about the reality. Our senses receive signals as inputs, the mind receves them to process, and the outcome appears in the form of an idea, feeling, and behaviour. This maybe simplistic model it however can be found to happen to us.
What's universal about personality? By universal we mean things that can be generalised to any given number of poeple and said to occur constantly. It is certailny clear that people do share some universal traits.
